The Image Compression Tool is a free web-based utility that lets you compress multiple images at once with a simple drag and drop. No software installation required -- just use your browser to dramatically reduce the file size of JPEG and PNG images. Image dimensions (pixel width and height) are preserved, so you get smaller files without sacrificing visual quality.
Perfect for optimizing blog images, social media posts, email attachments, presentations, and more. After compression, download all files at once as a convenient ZIP archive.
Choose from four quality levels to strike the right balance between image quality and file size reduction.
Note: Images that are already highly optimized or extremely small may actually increase in size after compression. In such cases, the result will be labeled "Increased" -- simply use the original file instead.
JPEG compression uses lossy encoding that removes subtle color information imperceptible to the human eye. At the "Best" setting, the difference is virtually undetectable; lower settings yield greater file size savings. PNG compression optimizes the color palette and improves the compression algorithm while preserving transparency.
| Quality | Estimated Reduction | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Best | 10-20% reduction | Portfolios, photography, and other quality-critical uses |
| High | 30-50% reduction | Blog posts, web pages, and general-purpose images |
| Medium | 50-70% reduction | Email attachments, social media posts, and size-limited uploads |
| Low | 70-90% reduction | Thumbnails, gallery grids, and small display sizes |
Note: Actual compression rates vary depending on the content and resolution of the original image. The figures above are approximate guidelines.
Supported image formats are JPEG (.jpg / .jpeg) and PNG (.png). You can process up to 50 images at a time, and compressed files can be downloaded together as a ZIP archive. An optional filename suffix (e.g., _comp) makes it easy to distinguish compressed images from the originals.
All image compression is performed entirely in your browser. Unlike typical web services, your images are never uploaded to our servers. Note: External libraries and fonts may be loaded for page rendering.
Q. Why did the file size increase after compression?
A. Images that are already heavily compressed or very small may grow slightly during re-encoding due to added metadata. In this case, simply use the original file.
Q. Does compression change the image dimensions?
A. No. This tool only reduces file size -- the pixel dimensions remain exactly the same as the original.
Q. Can I use this on my phone?
A. Yes. It works in any modern mobile browser, including Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android.
Q. Is PNG transparency preserved?
A. Yes. Transparency is fully maintained when compressing PNG images.
