What is EGANE?

EGANE (Image becomes Sound) is a browser-based synthesizer that converts images into music. It maps pixel data (hue, brightness, position) from uploaded images to musical parameters and generates music in real-time. No installation or registration required - start right away in your browser.

Convert any image - photos, illustrations, screenshots - into music. Even the same image yields completely different musical experiences when switching themes or modes.

• Auto Scan — Automatically scans the image left to right, converting vertical pixels into sound. Adjust scan speed with BPM. Loop function enables repeated playback.
• Mouse Jam — Trace over the image with mouse or touch to play sounds in real-time based on color and brightness. Enjoy intuitive performance.
• Grid Sequencer — Divides the image into a grid, generating sounds from each cell color as a step sequencer. Supports BPM adjustment and cell muting.

• Rush — Sprint — High-BPM drum and bass-style sound. Breakbeats and aggressive bass.
• Haze — Mist — Lo-fi chill sound. Swing rhythms and warm pentatonic scale.

• Filter Sweep — Real-time control of cutoff frequency and resonance with XY pad. Add expression to the sound.
• Arpeggiator — Arpeggio function that breaks pad chords into sequential notes. Speed selectable from quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes.
• Reverb & Delay — Spatial effects that add depth and width to the sound.
• Scale Selection — Change the musical impression with 6 scale types: Pentatonic, Major, Minor, Chromatic, Dorian, Blues.

About the Technology

EGANE is a browser-based music generation engine utilizing the Web Audio API. It processes oscillators, filters, reverb, delay, and other effects in real-time. No data is ever sent to servers - all processing is done within the browser. Image data is never transmitted externally.
